"I remember the one with the gun that shot off," he said. "It sounded like a true shotgun."

Jamya Hunter, 7, had her own favorite part.

"When we got to act out the parts of the people," she said. "I was the cook, the chef."

Historians don't discern exactly where De Soto's expedition landed on the Gulf Coast in May of 1539.
