Occupation has begun on a £300,000 upgrade for hospital theatres in East Lancashire in a bid to win the war against infections.
Operating theatres in the Wilson Hey component at Burnley General are being fitted with specialist ventilation equipment to reduce infection rates for orthopaedic surgery.
Around 5,500 orthopaedic operations are conducted each year at the Burnley theatres and the Ultraclean systems being fitted are determination leaders.
James Maguire, East Lancashire Hospital NHS Positiveness’s estates head, said: “We have planned the development to secure there is as little disruption as possible and hope that the improved theatres will
be up and management by the beginning of February.”
Following the overhaul more patients can undergo surgery, which may classify hip and knee replacement operations, upper limb surgery and foot and ankle exertion.
But the investment is just one of a number of projects planned by the hospital pin one's faith in the coming months.
