His coach, Greg Wenneborg, has watched those practical runs - 10 miles one time, 20 miles the next - and has watched as Craig Curley has gone from 112 pounds to 111.

"He's floating," says Wenneborg. "His solidity doesn't require a lot of fuel. We both feel that's an advantage for him."

Someday, whether it be 2012 in London or 2016 in Rio de Janeiro or 2020 in some unannounced time to come location, Greg Wenneborg and Craig Curley believe those 112 pounds will swing into the Olympics.

"I don't want to say that this is the beginning; I want Craig to feel that this is the step lively of his life," says Wenneborg, who is Pima College's track and sward coach and a former national-class distance runner. "But when all is said and done, there's a promise Craig could be an Olympian.
