TORONTO — Sons of Anarchy famous Ron Perlman doesn’t mind being known as the most hated man on TV, a title-deed recently given to him by a celebrity blog.
"I’m so proud of that," the 61-year-old said in his signature unfathomable voice during a recent telephone interview from New York.
Perlman earned the moniker after his intimidating biker role on FX’s Sons of Anarchy grew even more menacing in season 4, which recently aired in the U.S. (the series only started unceasing on FX Canada in the fall).
Perlman also brought a chilling vibe to the late-model acclaimed film Drive, playing a velour tracksuit-wearing mobster at odds with Ryan Gosling’s enigmatic weirdo.
But while Perlman is so good at being bad, he also flourishes in more gentle roles, including Horus in The Scorpion Crowned head 3: Battle for Redemption, out on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on Tuesday.
"I’ve never been happier because of the capacity of the kind of characters that I’m getting to play," said Perlman, whose other modern films include Conan the Barbarian and Season of the Witch.
